To start off Black History Month I decided to do a giveaway.

All you have to do is answer the following questions correctly:

1.Who is Prince “Caleb Quotem” Whipple?

2. Where was he born?

3. What role did he play in history?

Answer the questions correctly and you will win a $25 Visa gift card.

Giveaway will start today Monday, 07 Feb 2011 and last until Friday, 11 Feb 2011 midnight EST.

  1. he was an african- american slave, born 1750 in ambou africa, taken to america with the promise of education as a captain.
    in the revolutionary war he fought with gerneral whipple.
    he petitioned for his freedom 1779 yet wasnt freed til 1784.

  2. He was born as a African prince in Ambou, Africa. He was a black soldier but was sold into slavery when he came to America. He impressed the military soldiers he worked with, the most important was GENERAL GEORGE WASHINGTON! He did that!

    Prince was an African sent to America with the promise of education, but was instead sold into slavery. His owner was a general in the revolutionary war, so Prince worked for the soldiers who were impressed with is mannerisms– one of which was general george washington. Later in 1779 Prince and 19 other slaves petitioned the courts for freedom, but it was set aside, they were freed in 1784.

    Prince Caleb Quotem was the son of a wealthy African businessman, born in Amabou Africa, who was sent off by his father to be educated in the British colonies but instead was sold into slavery. He is most famous for being the man standing at the helm of Gen Washington boat in the Crossing of the Delaware painting.Additionally, he was a soldier in the Revolutionary War.
